Now Available: Modernized W-2/W-2C Online Application
W-2/W-2C Online is a free application available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can use it to manually enter employee information and file W-2 and W-2C forms electronically. The modernized application offers enhanced features such as:
Simplified navigation
Easy-to-read screens
Plain language instructions
Box 12 code descriptions
The ability to print copies for employees
The previous W-2/W-2C Online application will be decommissioned on September 19, 2026. Submit any unsubmitted reports by September 18, 2026, as access will end after that date.
Note: The new application currently supports only U.S. domestic wage reporting; territory wage reporting will be available in early December 2026. If you need to report wages for any territories prior to early December 2026, wage file upload remains available as an electronic option.

Business Services Online (BSO) Authorization Process
In the January 8, 2026, issue of W-2 News, we announced the initial release of the BSO Authorization Process. The initial release has now concluded. Participants of the initial release will retain access to the BSO Authorization Process for any future rollouts. If you did not submit your registration code before the initial release ended, please retain it—your code remains valid for one year and can be used during the next rollout.
To prepare for the BSO Authorization Process, here are a few steps you can take:
If you have not already, create a Login.gov or ID.me credential. This will be required to access the system.
Ensure your organization’s mailing address is current with the IRS. Keeping your address up to date will help to prevent delays.
We will share additional information about the new BSO Authorization Process as it becomes available.
Employer Signature PIN
Social Security anticipates introducing an Employer Signature PIN for employers and third-party submitters filing wage reports electronically for the upcoming annual wage reporting season that starts December 2026. This feature will be available with the launch of Social Security’s updated Business Services Online (BSO) authorization system. Organizations may enhance the security of their wage submissions by choosing to use the Employer Signature PIN through the new BSO Authorization Process. Be sure to check the Employer Signature Pin page regularly for updates.
